Joyce Lew-Ng, Co-Director of ABCD, Inc., received her Masters of Science in Speech Pathology from Columbia University’s Teachers College and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Hofstra University.  Ms Lew-Ng is fluent in Chinese (Cantonese and Toisanese dialects). Ms Lew-Ng, a bilingual speech language pathologist, has extensive supervisory experience as the director of a thriving private speech clinic, since 1996.  It was during this time when she realized the special educational needs of the bilingual child.  Prior to this she supervised staff and graduate clinicians at Coney Island Hospital from 1993 until her practice demanded her full time attention.

Mayra García, Co-Director of ABCD, Inc., also a bilingual speech pathologist, comes with a 20-year background in education.  Ms García was awarded a full tuition scholarship to pursue a degree in Bilingual Special Education at St. Joseph’s College in 1981.  After teaching for seven years, Ms García pursued her Masters degree in Speech & Language Pathology at Teachers College.  Upon graduation she provided evaluative and therapeutic speech and language services in Spanish at Centro HOLA at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Ms García coordinated the speech component of the Early Intervention Program, facilitated a parent education program, and supervised graduate clinicians, from a variety of universities worldwide.  Ms García is bilingually certified in Spanish.

Ms. Lew-Ng and Ms. García are children of immigrants. Both learned English as a second language. ABCD, Inc was founded to address the special educational needs of all children but especially the bilingual language learner.
